I wrote this poem when the person who I thought was the love of my life left. I couldn't get her out of my head, so I wrote. And wrote. And wrote. This is the end result and it's the piece I'm most proud of. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

When we first met, we would stare at the moon and talk about how we are insignificant.
I didn't realize you meant we are insignificant.
I thought we were a speck of dust compared to the universe.
What you meant to say was "5 years from now I won't remember your favorite color
or the way your eyes remind me of a rain forest"
But why do I still know that if you could, you would paint the world maroon.
I remember the way your eyes resembled a cup of tea on a Saturday morning.
I remember the day you left, saying all I ever do is blame my problems on other people,
Already forgetting the nights you had to tell me it wasn't my fault.
I remember you calling me a liar, but I wasn't lying when I said I loved you.

When we first met, we would stare at the moon and talk about how we are insignificant.
